Lynn Kanady

Business Manager
Dr. Kanady and I met in 1986, married in 1987, and opened Kanady Chiropractic together in 1988. I have been running the front desk since the beginning and can honestly say that our business is my passion. I raised two kids behind the desk so that I could ensure I was able to be with our kids while still providing the very best care to our patients. I am proud of the reputation we have built and get so much satisfaction from helping patients get the care they deserve. I am blessed that I get to work with my husband every day and that our daughter, Paige, works for us remotely (work is a good excuse that I ‘need’ to Skype her every day, so I can see my granddaughter, Harper). Many days you’ll also find my son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Jenna, and their two kids, Charlie and Bo, in the office as well. We truly are a family-run business.

Denise Aafedt

Insurance Manager
I was born and raised on the East Coast but married a Montanan who convinced me to move our family to Alaska. Raising our son and daughter, helping with our family owned construction business and volunteer work has made for a busy and rewarding life. In my spare time I enjoy trying new recipes and planning our next trip to Italy. When we became empty-nesters in 2015, I decided it was time to try something new and started at Kanady Chiropractic. I love that this a family business; I feel more like a family member than an employee. Dr. Kanady has been an Anchorage provider for over 30 years and I love that he has patients that have been coming to see him since the beginning. I am proud to work for a facility that puts the patient’s needs first and is honest in all aspects of their business. I enjoy working in the chiropractic field because it is very rewarding to see patients experience real relief from their pain without relying on prescriptions or more costly and invasive procedures. As the insurance manager here, it brings me great satisfaction to help patients maximize their insurance benefits and assist in resolving any issues that arise.

Special Projects
Being born into the Kanady clan, and practically growing up behind the front desk, I was destined to join the family business. I worked here off and on throughout high school, college and started full time in January of 2017. In July 2017 I met my husband, Justin, who is active-duty Air Force so in 2019 we packed our life into our camper and moved to the lower 48 to live the military lifestyle. The beauty of working for a family business is that it allows me to work remotely from anywhere we are stationed.
In 2021 we welcomed our daughter, Harper, into the world. Now I spend my days working remotely and hanging out with her and our French Bulldog, Howard. You can still hear me (and Harper) behind the front desk just about every day, only now it’s through Skype.

I enjoy working in the chiropractic field because I get to witness tiny miracles every day. Our IDD Therapy offers patients an alternative to surgery, and I love seeing patients get relief from our treatment rather than undergoing surgery. And of course, I enjoy getting to work with my family.

I was born and raised in Anchorage along with my five siblings. While I enjoy traveling, I have always called Alaska home. My wife and I have been married since 2019 and live here in Anchorage. We take every opportunity to soak up the Alaskan summers and camp while hunkering down as close as possible to the wood stove during the winters. That being said, we also enjoy the occasional jaunt down to the Midwest to visit family!

I have worked in healthcare for the better part of 9 years now, the majority of which was spent performing exams and taking x-rays as a chiropractic assistant. When the time came for a career change, my interest in fitness, martial arts, and holistic health led me to pursue massage therapy through Alaska Career College. I couldn’t be happier with that decision.

I love patient care and working with clinical staff, and have found the team at Kanady to be a joy to work for from day one.

Licensed Massage Therapist
My life started in Hawaii but I have been raised and spent most of my life in Alaska, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I hold both states very close to my heart and enjoy the vast activities that they both have to offer. I try and sneak down to the islands during our long winters to enjoy some warm weather as well as scuba diving, one of my favorite activities. When I’m home I mostly enjoy hiking in the mountains with my dogs taking in the beautiful scenery and fishing out of Prince William Sound with my family. My years working as a medical assistant as well as my strong desire to help others is what led me to massage therapy. I am elated to be working here at Kanady Chiropractic and to be a part of this wonderful team. I look forward to seeing my clients and having a role in improving their overall wellness.

Whitney Gomez

Licensed Massage Therapist
I was born and raised an Alaskan girl who grew up in Palmer and moved to “the big city” to go to school for massage therapy. I’ve been a massage therapist for more than 12 years. I can’t imagine anything else I’d rather do.

My husband and I have been married since 2011 and love to travel. Although, with 3 kids now, we keep our adventures close to home. Our children keep us busy and laughing all the time, never a dull moment over here!

I’ve always loved what I do. Working in a chiropractor’s office, we get to see our patients progress through their treatments. It’s very rewarding to be a part of such an amazing team here at Kanady Chiropractic. From the moment I became an employee I’ve been part of the family.

Alaska has been home my entire life. I have grown up with the ability to walk out my front door and go on a crazy wilderness adventure or a calm nature walk. Living with this engrained adoration of nature, I find so much joy in traveling and exploring new places.

When I’m not seeking out fairytale forests or sparkly rivers (like an Alaskan Disney princess), I love learning new dance choreography, ‘occasionally’ watching The Office, and doing my best to excel academically. I graduated in the spring of 2023 and am now working toward my Bachelor of Science in Health Science at UAA. Although nothing is set in stone, my current plan is to go into medical school with that degree.

As I pursue my passions and goals, Kanady Chiropractic has been such a lovely place to work. Every member of the team and patient who walks through the door is a part of the family. My favorite aspect of the job is seeing the smiles on patients as they leave the clinic feeling better than when they arrived.

Being Lynn and Dr. Kanady’s niece, I am no stranger to Kanady Chiropractic’s dedication to their patients. This made my decision to join the crew in 2023 an easy one! I am thrilled to be part of the positive impact they make in the community.

Although I have since relocated out of Anchorage to Minneapolis, Minnesota, I am fortunate to keep to my roots by assisting with projects remotely. I can often be found in important meetings with my “coworkers” Pesto and Pistachio (my two rescue cats). They are not very helpful but they are very cute.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and soaking up every new experience Minnesota has to offer. I look forward to my next adventure while still being a part of this amazing team!
